Between the tearful goodbye and the triumphant return, soldiers and their families make tremendous sacrifices. Parents, spouses, children, and loved ones feel the stress and loneliness of separation. Those in service work long and challenging hours, face life-threatening situations, and are deployed to combat zones for months at a time. When they return to civilian life, many veterans continue to face challenges:

  • Reconnecting with family and re-establishing a role in the family
  • Preparing to enter, or re-enter, the workforce
  • Joining or creating a community
  • Adjusting to providing basic necessities, such as food, clothing, and housing
  • Suffering and managing from physical or emotional wounds
  • Finding resources for community or veterans’ benefits

The Veterans Village will:

  • Provide stable, affordable housing for area single veterans and veteran families to promote self-sufficiency and prevent homelessness
  • Improve quality of life with a continuum of care that is veteran-centric
  • Support for physical and emotional needs
  • Provide respectful end-of-life care for an aging veteran population
  • Create a multi-generational community of support and understanding
  • Honor, dignify, and respect the men, women and families who sacrificed to serve our country
