8th Combat Hunger with WAPL and Woodward Communication Media

WAPL hosted its 8th Annual Combat Hunger benefiting Wisconsin Veterans Village. WAPL asks their listeners to step up and enlist in the fight against veteran hunger! Donations benefit the residents and veteran programs provided by Wisconsin Veterans Village! Event takes place on Thursday, August 27th, 6am-6pm at 2800 E College Ave, at the WAPL / WCM Studios in Appleton. Please consider joining us at the location or donation via our website. Other notable accomplishments this year that have improved the safety of the veterans include:

Replacing path lighting and poles near Lake Lilian, new security lighting in stair wells, new lighting in all hallways, additional handrails in all stairwells, and replace stair coping coverings in building 200.

5th Annual Rocky Bleier Golf Outing

We wanted to share with you the results of our 5th Annual Rocky Bleier Golf Outing in the letter that was sent in recognition of the golfers, sponsors, door prize sponsors and volunteers.

Your participation, generosity, and enthusiasm made this year’s event one of our most successful yet. Whether you golfed, sponsored a hole, donated a raffle prize, volunteered your time, or attended the Evening with Rocky, you played an important role in helping the Wisconsin Veterans Village Association continue its mission of serving veterans and preserving their legacy.

We are pleased to share the results of this year’s outing.
5th Annual Rocky Bleier Golf Outing Results
Total Revenue: $133,373
Net Proceeds: $90,917
These exceptional results demonstrate what can be accomplished when a community comes together in support of our veterans.

Major Event Investments
Hosting a first-class event requires the support of outstanding partners. Our largest event expenses included:
Royal St. Patrick’s Golf Links – Approximately $17,000 for golf, carts, lunch, and event services.
American Legion – $3,600 for hosting the memorable “Evening with Rocky.”
Back Swing Golf – $5,000 for providing the golf professional and TrackMan experience.
Raffle Cash Prize – $5,000. Thanks to your generosity, the raffle raised $9,600, making it a successful fundraiser.
Charity Golf International – $6,000, with proceeds shared equally between Charity Golf International and the Wisconsin Veterans Village Association.

Your Support at Work
The $90,917 in net proceeds will be invested directly into the future of the Wisconsin Veterans Village Association:
$45,459 will be applied as an additional principal payment on our land contract, reducing long-term debt and strengthening our financial future.
$22,729 will be placed into our Building Reserve Fund to help maintain and improve our veterans’ home for years to come.
$22,729 will support the Association’s ongoing operations and veteran programs, ensuring we can continue serving those who have served our nation.

Every dollar raised helps us provide a lasting home for veterans, support meaningful programs, preserve our history, and continue serving our members and the community.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our event sponsors, prize donors, volunteers, committee members, and the staff at Royal St. Patrick’s Golf Links and the American Legion. Your dedication and generosity created an outstanding experience for everyone involved.
